Legendary western entertainers Roy Rogers and Dale Evans, stars
of radio, film, records, television and personal appearances, were
heroes to millions of fans from the Saturday matinee era throughout
the television era. They were superstars who both had excellent
singing voices and their films featured some of the most popular
songs of all time! While Roy and Dale found stardom in Hollywood, it
was always the music that shaped their careers.
The 28 films that
Roy and Dale starred in together contain more than 160 songs. Most
of the songs were written exclusively for the films and were never
published, copyrighted or performed anywhere else. When the films
were cut to 54 minutes for television in the early 1950's, many
songs in the films landed on the cutting room floor never to be
heard again.
In a remarkable
feat of dedication, perseverance and massive research, Eric van
Hamersveld spent more than five years in a worldwide search for some
of the rarest music in movie history. As a result of his efforts, we
are proud to present a magnificent 9" x 12" hardbound book with 400
pages and more than 160 complete song sheets transcribed exactly as
they were performed in the films, 1000 digitally enhanced photos
from the actual unedited films showing action scenes and musical
sequences, storylines and scene synopsis for each film and song.
Also included are detailed film credits and rare family photos.
Each book
includes a single CD of 18 digitally re-mastered soundtrack
recordings of songs that have not been heard in over 50 years.
Available separately is a 4-CD Boxed Set of 157 original musical
sound track recordings that have been collected, cleaned up from
film stock that is now more than 50 years old, digitized and
re-mastered. Included with the CD set is a beautiful booklet with
the lyrics of each song. |
